How do Focus Premium Max, Premium and Core differ?+
Their main published distinction is maximum range on 90-percent reflective surfaces: up to 400 m, 200 m and 100 m respectively. All three list capture rates up to 2 million points per second. Premium Max is positioned for large sites and infrastructure, Premium for broad AEC and as-built work, and Core for shorter-range facility, preservation and documentation assignments.
Do the published maximum ranges apply to every surface?+
No. Maximum ranges are measured under FARO's stated conditions and depend strongly on target reflectivity, scan-rate settings, atmosphere and geometry. Dark or black surfaces can materially reduce usable range, so the rental configuration should be selected around the actual site rather than the headline distance alone.
How fast is a FARO Focus scan?+
For the current Focus family, FARO lists typical grayscale scanning in under one minute, HDR color scanning in under one minute fifteen seconds and a fully colorized Flash scan in under 30 seconds. Flash timing requires the compatible panoramic-camera and Hybrid Reality Capture configuration. FocusS Plus models list capture rates up to 2 million points per second, while the non-Plus FocusS models list up to 1 million.
What does FARO SCENE do in the workflow?+
SCENE processes, registers and manages Focus scan data. It supports cloud-to-cloud, target and survey-control methods; Interactive and Hybrid Registration; filtering and color balancing; registration validation; project point-cloud creation; visualization, measurements and export to downstream formats.
Can Focus data be reviewed in the field?+
Yes, with configuration-specific workflows. Current Focus models work with FARO Stream for scanner control, live feedback, pre-registration and an overview map. FocusS workflows can use on-site registration in SCENE. Final registration and validation should still follow the project's quality plan.
What files can be delivered after processing?+
SCENE can prepare registered scan data for export into downstream point-cloud and CAD/BIM workflows. The actual rental or service package may include raw scans, registered point clouds, project files, imagery, CAD drawings or BIM models, but formats, coordinates and modeling scope must be confirmed for the project.
Does rental include software, accessories or training?+
Not automatically. The exact package is confirmed for each inquiry. Ask for the scanner model, dates, tripod, targets, panoramic camera, batteries, FARO SCENE or other software access, shipping, support and any requested orientation.
How do I confirm rental pricing and availability?+
Send the project location, requested dates, expected working distances, site conditions, preferred model and required accessories through the rental inquiry. Inventory, pricing, shipping, deposits, software and support are confirmed directly before a reservation is made.
Should I rent or hire a scanning service?+
Rental may fit qualified teams that already have field, registration and delivery experience. A scanning service may be the better fit when the project needs capture planning, site execution, FARO SCENE registration, quality review and defined deliverables under one coordinated scope.
